Not withstanding the various detailed procedures and mechanisms put in place to minimize the possibility and occurrence of errors in credit information reports, disputes are bound to arise given the scale and magnitude of the business.

A consumer credit report may contain different types of errors such as wrong account information and outdated information among others which need to be resolved at the earliest to ensure that it does not have an adverse impact on the overall credit profile of a customer.

Procedures for redressal of disputes

If a customer finds any error or discrepancy in his credit report, he can opt for an investigation in specific ways as listed below:

  1. A customer has to fill in the required particulars in the dispute resolution form
  2. A copy (self-attested) of both address and identity proof have to be attached
  3. The aforementioned documents have to be sent via regular post, courier or speed post to Equifax Credit Information Services Private Limited, Unit No. 931, 3rd floor, Building no. 9, Solitaire Corporate Park, Andheri Ghatkopar Link Road, Andheri East, Mumbai – 400 093
  4. In case of any further queries, a customer can make a written statement and send it along with the dispute redressal form to Equifax

Guidelines for dispute resolution form

Customers have to follow certain guidelines for redressal of disputes as listed below:

  1. Latest copies of bills should be submitted (3 months)
  2. The ID number on the card should be legible
  3. The photo of the customer on his or her ID card should be clearly visible
  4. The customer’s name and address should be mentioned in the bill
